Ashley Cummings, 25, aka “Ashley Kuzo” was born in Voorhees, NJ but raised in Delran, NJ. Ashley began her learning and training in dance at the age of 3 at Dance Sensations of NJ Inc. It was there were she realized how much she loved dance. Besides her love for dance she also had a passion for the arts of singing, songwriting, and poetry. Throughout her 16 years at Dance Sensations of NJ she had learned dance styles from Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pointe, Modern, African, and Acro, she went on to win in Dance Choreography for the PTA Reflections Program at Delran High School. Winning 4 years straight in local, and county level and 3 years straight in state level. She was the first Dance Choreography winner and African American to receive the National Award Merit in her freshman year and the National Award of Excellence in her senior year for Delran High School. These accomplishments lead her to form K.U.Z.O Enterprise which was established in 2013. Although Ashley had the idea of teaching her passion to the youth, she still was at a point where she wanted to offer more than just dance. So, Ashley put K.U.Z.O on hold in search for more experience.
Soon, making her way on over to In Da Clutch, a local dance crew, she would find herself learning even more about the dance world. Ashley’s experience with In Da Clutch landed her a broad experience from dance cyphers, commercials, to competitions and more. Ashley has been to and won in Baltimore, MD at Blood Sweat & Tears, has worked alongside Rennie Harris and Puremovement, was in a commercial for Skechers up in NY, performed at the Apollo for Jonzi D’s Breakin’ Convention, where she also met MC Lyte, performed at World of Dance 2013 and performed at Clutch Fest 2013 where she met and took class with Don “Campbellock” Campbell, & the Les Twins.
From there she went on to start teaching with other dance companies, working at Dance Time Productions teaching basic ballroom and line dancing. Also, working with Young Champions teaching kid/teen hip hop. Later, expanding to teaching her own students at local centers. Ashley currently taught at the Paulsboro High School working with an after school non profit program named Joy In Making A Difference. Venturing out, Ashley auditioned and made the Millennium Dance Company that was located in Philadelphia, PA. Also, she manage to get a spot on Philadelphia’s longest running dance/reality television show “Dancin’ On Air”. The show was also featured in “Saturday Morning Fever” on Fuse TV Network.
After gaining more experience as she intended she realized what K.U.Z.O was missing. Which was a strong platform for the youth giving them a broad view with no limits. Ashley’s idea was to put all her passions in one. So, she created a Enterprise, it was already K.U.Z.O Enterprise but she lacked knowledge of what enterprise stood for. Ashley named her studio K.U.Z.O Dance Studio which will be under K.U.Z.O Enterprise. Her studio will be giving her students more than one option in expressing themselves. Here they will be able to be themselves learning more than just dance, by gaining a business mindset in never limiting yourself.
